The Marvel Champions Timeline (MCu) shares more than just continuity with that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's own timeline in that like the MCU, the MCu's own timeline is mutable. What that means is that how it reads today, is not necessarily how it will read tomorrow or the day after. Our time is based on our current membership, their interests and needs. The reality of game life is that most sites have churn (turnover), characters are dropped and reapped, and in that process changes happen. Relationships that were are forgotten, dissovled, or out right declared as not having happened; The past is, whether admitted or not, mutable. Understanding this is understanding the concept of a hyper-continuity, especially in a world as dynamic as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. not those of the past or the future. I.E. We are thankful for those who participated in our timeline, and we look forwards to those who will, our duty is to those who are currently participating in our timeline and make that timeline vibrant.
What does this mean in practical terms? As characters are added, adopted, or dropped, MCu's active roster and and timeline will adapt to reflect the current active roster. The timeline, which has been designed to be inherently dynamic, will automatically update itself to reflect these changes. If, for example, Cyclops were to be be dropped, his relationship to our timeline would remain as it was, however, if he were adopted and during the process of adoption and application his age or birthday were revised, even if only by one day, our timeline, which is database driven rather then being dependant on manual updating by a very tired monkey will automatically reflect this change. If his place of birth were revised due to a plot or story based revellation, that would automatically be updated upon the approval of the updated character application. And thus, our timeline is always based on the present snapshot of the currently active approved characters.
Our take on the how the mutliverse works is that "time" is like a river, rushing ever forwards. Within that river you a primary current which carrying everything into the future, within that current thier are many smaller currents, alternate timelines if you would, which happen when a divergence happens at a significant point, not unlike a the river crashing into a rock. The river will not stop, it will find a way to move foreward, this might be that the current runs right of the rock, but some of may also slip left of the rock, and there you have an alternate timeline in the making. But, this timeline may also re-merge with the main timeline if enough events align even thought some things are different. Think about it, today we live in a world where people can believe and even insist that two radically differnet things happened, time, like reality, is subjective, the only constant is that the current of time moves ever forward.
how insistant are we on our speculated past? Not very. With that in mind, we are open to adaption and change. A character with the MCU can have their gender and race revised, that character can be dropped and then readopted, and in the adoption the race or gender and some of the history can be revised. Hypercontintinuity.

believe which have attempted to adopt the elements of the Marvel Comics Universe which have not yet been addressed by the Cinematic Universe, and then insisted that if a character is to be played, it must be played within the very specific, very narrow, very concrete mold which at times can also be very arbitrary in how it's applied based on the persons (handlers) and characters involved (think favoritism in plain site). If a character is to be inplay, the character must be shaped by a some wackadoodle fever dream, it should at least be one in which the handler who will write the character has some say on said fever dream and the character they will be playing. An example of such a wackadoole fever dreamw would be as follows, and yes, this bit of wackiness is something that actually happened, we were there to witness it, and that wackadoodleness is partly responsible for the creation of this site and it's beliefs and practices.
A mistake of Excelsior-sized proportions; played out else-mu following the release of Captain Marvel (2019), we had our canon introductions to the both the Kree and the Skrulls. And it was a great introduction, but the streamlined nature of the introduction potentially impacts many characters yet to come as they are adapted into the cinematic universe. One such character is Dorrek VII, aka Teddy Altman, better known as Hulkling who is the child of Captain Mar-Vell and Princess Anelle. As Captain Mar-Vell does not exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and likely will not to avoid confusion with Captain Marvel, other characters who are being adapted into the MCU will require revisions. One such character is Hulkling, who if he were to be born in the 1990s and raised on the S.W.O.R.D. orbital space station as some sites have set him up, then in modern day, he is closing in on 40 years of age. If he is to participate in his cannonical relationship with Wiccan, a young male teenager, then either Wiccan has to be significantly revised so that he is several years older than his mother... Or, Hulkling is essentially a phedophile creeping on Wiccan. So thats an excelsior-sized "EWH!". In additon to that epic fail of draftsmenship, one of the core concepts of the Hulkling character is ignored, Hulkling is one of the founding members of the YOUNG AVENGERS, all of who are TEENAGERS! To us, this seems like a great disservice to the characters involved, and the circumstances that the handlers might find their characters in if they were to persue some of their cannonical storylines (in the comics Hulkling and Wiccan are married).
When characters are adapted, they should be adapted not only with an eye to their continuity, but also their storylines and how they will likely playout on site. The adapted character should not require any changes to another character who has already been adapted, and most importantly of all, the integrity of the character should be respected. Hulking is not a phedophile. He is not the flag-waving mascot of the NAMbLA organization. Shoe-horning a character into such a situation because of a epic sized lack of consideration to the integrity of a character and their storylines should be the farthest thing from the word excelsior, at least as Stan Lee had intended it.
And so our timeline is mutable. Princess Anele doesn't have to be knocked up within the first two frames of having been introduce back in the nineties. Hulkling doesn't have to be a pedophile, he can be staged so that the integrity of the character remains intact and we can tweak our timeline to reflect this. This is part of what we call "Hyper-continuity".
