ABOUT US

Marvel Champions's is a premium content-rich, custom build* site with a rating of 3-3-3 focused on general inclusiveness through community and storylines ranging from team focused stories to epic sweeping sagas to personal character-driven plots, all of them interwinng to create a greater, more immersive whole. Here we weave together the epicness of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with that of the original source content of the Marvel Comics 616 universe using a method known as hyper-continuity, which means that as stories unfold, we will be sure to make the relevant information needed for participation in a storyline visible and accessible to all so that everyone can participate on a level playing field without feeling like they need to take a course in comics 101 as taught by the X-Men's resident big brain, Dr. Henry McCoy, the Beast.

We are an Alternative-Universe (AU), that beleives all characters are essentially original characters (OCs), even if they have been featured in some aspect of the Marvel universe, after all what were the X-Men or the Avengers back in 1963 if not original characters, right? We allow everything from humans to humanoids, aliens to synthetic, supernatural creatures and more, so long as they can fit within the context of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sene to it, they are welcomed here.**

As we are an alternative universe, we all for gender, race, and prefence swapping so long as it does not compromise the inherent quality of the character. Some aspects of the Marvel have been deemed unworkable such as the Fox's Deadpool films and FX's Legion. Others like the first two X-Men movies and the parts of the first season of Agents of S.Hi.E.L.D. have aspects we have draw on for inspiration but their continuities - we are the MCu (See the small letter "U" there? See what we did?)

We are a low word count, medium actiivty site. We require that each character makes at least two posts per week of 250 words per post counting towards their personal activity check. Our site goal is not to be the biggest site with the most characters, but to be the freindliest site with the most active members so that those who are here, can make friends and find adventure.

* We are still in our Alpha development phase, soon to begin our beta developement cycle, from which we will enter into our soft open. All are still welcome, but expect some bumps and glitches because we are a work in progress. Thank you for your understanding and patience, we appreciate you.

CURRENT SITE STORYLINES

2015: It has been three years since UN Embassy bombing in Vienna resulting in the deaths of several delegates including then-king of Wakanda T'Chaka; The Sokovia Accords have since been ratified. The Avengers who refuse to sign the Accords have been forced into "retirement" or declared "Persons of Interest" and warrants have been issued for their arrests. And keepign with the Accords, any known super-powered persons exceeding category tl-7 (Threat Level Seven (TL7s)) have been re-classified as WMDs and relocated to restricted campus for their protection.

Nick Fury retains control of S.H.I.E.L.D. following his skill handling of the attempted Hydra uprising which was quietly contained within the hangers of the Tiskeleon. Tony Stark continues to fund the Avengers and has relocated them to a renovated Stark facility in upperstate New York, Natasha Romanoff has assumed the mantle of leadership of current Avenger operations. Together they have begun the work of making the world a safer place for all peoples of Earth as directed by the Accords; The primary duty of the Avengers, now known as the Innitiative, has become handling of RWMD (Resisitng Weapons of Mass Distruction(Metas)) to the Accords; The United States has begun discussions of a second, more specific national registration which would require a mandatory genetic screening within the first trimester with and manual complaince required of anyone not yet tested or entering the United States.

However, not everyone has agreement with these proceedings, most noteably Steve Rogers who retiring from the Avengers has since become a very vocal descenter and activist protesting the the Accords. There have been rumors that he leads a team of super-powered "activists" who run interference when possible to prevent families from being split up by the actions of the Accords and the Innitiative. This group has been covertly with an as yet unidentified sympathier within the initiative from various Wakandan Embassies and a network of numerous underground safehouses (provided by an unknown sympathizer to their cause) to identify and find super-powered humans before S.H.I.E.L.D./Initiative is able to too those found into "protective custody".

From the sidelines, various interests watch with growing concern from academics like Professor Charles Xavier and the reclusive Dr. Henry McCoy to respected scientists such as Dr. Moira MacTaggert and Dr. Karl Lycos, to industrialists such as Emma Frost and Dr. Boliar Trask, and rising political stars such as the alt-right populist Donald J. Trump & good Reverend William Stryker.

Meanwhile, Asgard has been established on Midguard (Earth) taking the place of the Norwegian village of Tønsberg in Norway, now renamed as New Asgard in homage to their ancestial home; The gods are once again walking the Earth and have begun the work of rebuilding thier great realm now here on Earth.

IT'S GOTTA BALANCE CHARACTER CREATION
First and foremost, it is important to know that our character application process is different from other "premium" sites. Here, we have attempted to create a best-of-class character creation experience. We have purposely chosen to break from outdated practices of the late 90s embraced by other sites because "Everyone else is doing it'; We're not jumping off that bridge. Here, we considered the entire process with an eye towards the future and re-envisioned how a character can be created which minimizes the pain of creation when and where possible to allow you to spend more parts enjoying what's fun. Here you will NOT wrangle code. Here, you will not use outside hosting resources. Here, you will use simple, easy-to-fill-out forms. Here you will let the site write the code for you based on the information you have provided. Here, you will let the site handle your image hosting and image resizing needs. Here, the site will automatically create customizable image rotators for you. Here, all of your claims will automatically happen programmatically. Here, you will concentrate your creative energies on creating your character and nothing more. To make a character, please follow the process outlined below in it's given order:

Character Profile	CHARACTER PROFILES: Broken up into multiple tabs, our character profiles can become quite robust, and for some quite intimidating. For those who are stressed by creating a character fear not we say. Our OMMMS is designed to help you through the process without you ever having to attempt to wrangle a single piece of "code". The OMMMS character creation tools breaks a character into several easy-to-fill out forms which will then render the data you provide into a detailed visual character application for all to see. OVERVIEW: Detailing the basics of the character as they might be found in a medical or personnel file. FLAWS: Here you will describe your characters negative traits and or disadvantages. Anything from poor fashion sense to being having a heart condition or being cursed should be listed here. MERITS: Here you will describe your characters positive traits and or advantages. Only those advantages which give you an actual demonstrateable edge someone should be detailed. POWERS: If your character has any superpowers, not to be confused with exceptional skills, they can be detailed here. We have developed some tools to help you with this so that listing will be uniformed and and fast to do. SKILLS: If your character has any unique or above average skills, anything ranging from olympic level gymnastics, to spell casting, to the amazing fudge baking prowse that can bring Galactus to his knees as weilded by Aunt May, it should be detailed here. EQUIPMENT:From cellphones to sophisticate time-travelling exoskeltons, this is the place to put it. If the character typically routinely carries a Casio Calculator from 1972 on their person, it should be listed here. If it's not here, it doesn't count in a combat or crisis situation without temporary staff sanctioning. RESOURCES:Does your character live in a swank bachelor pad with an open pit thermo nuclear reactor sitting in the basement? Do they have have a large cardboard box that they call home that only a billionaire with radiation posioning could be envious? Library card? Reserved parking spot? All of these things are examples of resources - things your character has access too, but doesn't actually typically carry on their person. CONTACTS: No matter how much of a loner your character might be, they will likely have a contact or too and this is the place to list them. And thanks to our OMMMS, theres a good change that at least a few of them will already be done for you! TIMELINE: The history of your character, it can be as detailed as you want it to be so long as it hits all the necessary beats. Birth, origin, etc. Note that certain parts of your character timeline will be automatically ammended into the overall site timeline such as their birth and origin. HANDLER: This portion of the character app is largely a no-brainer as the OMMMS pulls all the info directly from your user profile, so there is nothing for you to do, it's just there for the sake of simplicity and ease of use.

Character Creation Form	THE OMMMs CHARACTER EDITOR: This is the very heart of our site, using this tool, you can create or edit a character and upload images. As you do this, the site creates and manages all of your claims and reserves related to that specific character without your ever having to attempt to manage any html or other types of code. BREAKING IT DOWN: Our editor is designed so the a you can work on a character application in small manageable bites, which are automatically saves as you go minimizing the risk of data loss. IT'S A FACT(IOD): The editor contains all necessary documention, tools, and factiods relating to each aspect of a character section so you aren't left wondering how to fill something out, or where to go looking to find the information necessary to complete a section. BLANK ON IT: Don't feel that you need to fill out ever section. Some characters are quite ordinary compared to the likes of Spider-Man and the Black Widow and that's ok. If you leave a section blank, it will not appear to the general public, only you and staff ever see any intentially blank sections, thus presenting a more professional, clean looking application that you can be proud of. And as time passes, your character may develop additional abilities and skills, if they do, you can always enter the character editor and add those additons to your character! REVIEW + SUBMIT: When you feel you're character is ready, click submit and your done. You don't need to post it in some special forum, or move it to some special place. The OMMMS will automatically handle all of that for you, sorting everything for you right down to managing the status of any related claims and even linking your character to other profiles that share common datapoints such as contacts, residences, or teams.

Read the welcome and Discord Rules section, then reach out to staff to discuss your character, once one is agreed upon, you will be given a memberhsip code which which will allow you to register your account. You will find no reCAPTURES on our site as we our favoring more advanced, secure, less obtrustive techniques to protect your privacy and make the site more accessible and easier to navigate. JOIN THE MCu: You can click on the Join link located in the red navigation at the top of the screen, or universe. REGISTRATION FORM: Completely fill out the OOC Section of the registration form. This will create your main account, from which our site will automatically create all of your "character accounts" will automatically be created for you each time you create or adopt a new character. REGISTER YOUR FIRST CHARACTER: The registration form can also be used to not only reserve your first character, but also to place all of your claims. You can choose an open or wanted character, or register a new character (OC or Face) form this form. Fill it out completely and all of your claims will be instantly handled for you.

Start Page The Site Nerve center	START PAGE: Once you have registered, you will be connected to your personal start page. Whenever you log into MCu, you will always be transferred to your start page where you can set yoru site and character preferences, check alerts and notices, and more. If you want to set another point as your start point, you can do that by clicking on your membership preferenes on your start page. COMPLETE YOUR FIRST CHARACTER: Once you are all situated, you can click on your character link to continue flushing out your character (FC or OC). Once done, click submit and staff will be automatically alerted that your character is ready for review. The character will be entered into the review cue with first characters taking precidence over all others to help get you into game fast!
