And then there were three...

And then there were three... (#TiD-64) unknown

SCENE SET »  Teddy had put forth the idea that they met later tonight after the parental had departed, and they could all sleep away without arousing suspicion. Given that the Altman's didn't leave until shortly after ten, and Billy and Tommy were expected to help clean up afterwards, and then due their homework, something which was somewhat easier for Tommy than Billy, the twins arrived at the warehouse shortly before 1AM.

The building itself was old, but not in a horrible state of disrepair, the roof didn't leak and it wasn't quite as dirty as you might have expected, that it wasn't infested with squatters was a miracle. And of course the name of that particular miracle was Billy Kaplan who'd worked on of his first and most successful glamours on the building. The glamour caused all but the strongest minded of people to realize that their was a vacant warehouse present; Billy wasn't sure what if anything most people thought was there, he'd theorized they just saw it as a dead zone or something -- that his spell sort of affected people like road hypnotism.

And since the Boys had started using this as their secret base of operations, they managed to scrounge some floor lamps, a carpet, two sofas, a table and some chairs. They even had a an old Xbox and analog tv set up to play video games on. Also there was the mini-fridge which was not to be touched on pain of death - it was Tommy's. You do not touch Tommy's food. He will gnaw you.

And now they are arriving

Wiccan » No sooner had Billy translocated into the warehouse which the boys utilized, then he looked around for Tommy, who he at least half-expected to have beat him to the warehouse given it's close proximity to where they lived. If They were going to Connecticut, or someplace more remote, Billy would like arrive first, but their hidden headquarters, that was relatively close where Tommy was concerned. Billy of course had offered Tommy a lift, but Tommy usually opted to run, it afforded him an opportunity to hit a convince storm or two or three. Billy highly doubted that Tommy was actually sticking around to pay for anything, but Tommy protected Brooklyn, so Billy tried to justify it to himself as Brooklyn's protection tax.

Billy also never asked about it, no knowing helped. A lot.

He appeared in a flash of light and sound and fury; He was in his pajamas as he planned to go to bed afterwards and had already brushed his teeth.

Chimaera » Teddy had been perched on the roof of the building across the street from the warehouse Billy had told him to meet at for couple of hours now. The great thing about Manhattan was that so many buildings had gargoyles on them. It made perching way easier. But at this hour of the night he hadn't had any problems.

He hadn't had a problem finding the place either, though a lot of people apparently did. He'd lost count of the number of people he'd seen pass it by with their heads firmly turned away from it. It was weird seeing some powers in action, but also kind of cool. He'd finished the thermos of hot tea he'd brought a while ago and was on his bottle of water when he saw a flash of light. Suddenly Billy was standing there just outside the warehouse. Teddy figured Tommy couldn't be far behind.

He stood from his crouch on the corner of the roof and spread his wings wide. He put his things in his backpack and picked it up before leaping into the air. The membranes of his wings snapped tight as they caught the air as Teddy glided toward the sidewalk. He landed just a few steps away from Billy.

"Fancy meeting a nice guy like you out on the streets at this hour," he said as his wings retracted back inside his body. He continued morphing until a very human looking Teddy stood in front of Billy. "I'm assuming Tommy's on his way...unless you were just wanting me all to yourself." He was caught between a grin and a smirk.

Wiccan » Billy was still acclimating to his surrounds as Teddy flew down beside him and onto the loading doc where he had materialized; Hed meant to appear within the warehouse, but sometimes he missed his objective by a tens of yards, this was one such time. And while he was expecting Teddy to either be at the warehouse waiting, or that he would soon arrive, hed not really prepared himself for a seven feet of hulk to come swooping in out of the darkness - he had wings. Wings!

Billy jumped a little, his hand on his heart as he let out a small start. He bounced off the wall of the loading dock ever so slightly causing the metal articulated door of the loading bay to brussel with a metallic echo. His hand still on his heart, he looked up at the green behemoth, who, Billy really ought to have found a little less then appealing, but didnt. Billy wondered if he was a size queen at that moment.

Clearing his throat, he looked Teddy up and down, wings, claws, weird shoulder plates aside, he had a nice body, and evidently was just sort of big. Everywhere. Billy really was beginning to wonder if he was a size queen; He also reminded himself that Teddy was a jerk and taken by Calvin. A confused smile settled on his lip, as if he might have just eaten something and was uncertain if he liked it or despised it. I see you.. made it You have wings. You got taller-er-er.. Er-er Again. Billy paused to look Teddy over one more time. He had huge feet. They were really wide too. One could only wonder. You had a third eye too. All that aside, you wear it well. Glad you could make it. Tommy ought to be here momentarily - hes probably just stopping at a place or three to get something to eat. Hopefully hell pick us up something too. You have a healthy appetite as I recall.

As Billy spoke, he started russelling through one of his side pouches for the keys to the warehouse.

Chimaera » "Yeah," Teddy sighed. "I did have a third eye, but only for like a minute, and only because I needed to check what was happening in your kitchen while I kept an eye on Nate. If you've got any ideas how I could do that without a third eye, I'm willing to hear them." He had returned to his normal appearance at this point. He could change very rapidly, but people who saw that usually didn't react well.

As Billy found the key and opened the door, Teddy followed him in. It was a pretty decent space considering it was an abandoned warehouse. Tommy still hadn't shown, which made Teddy hope that Billy was right. "I could eat," Teddy shrugged.

"This place is nice," he took a moment to look Billy up and down. "But I didn't know this was a sleepover, though." He'd had a hell of a day, and he felt like pushing Billy's buttons. "I didn't bring any pajamas, but that's mainly because I don't wear any." He wandered over toward the gaming system. It was actually someplace Teddy could imagine himself hanging out with friends.

"How long have you two been using this place anyway?"

Wiccan » Billy responded only with a knowing look, he wasn't one to say I told you so, no matter how tempting or satifying such an action might have been to do so. No, he wasn't that type, knowing that he was correct was enough for him. As to how Teddy could have responded to his situation, Billy felt the third eye was a good idea, but when someone catches you on it as you suddenly find yourselves in the the thirtith century in a temporal bubble - c'mon; Billy replied with a shurg. He then paused to look around Teddy to see if that was Tommy he felt approaching or just a chilly late night breeze.

Turning his attention back to the blond, "I imagine he'll bring something. Or he may have come and heard us talking about him bringing food and then run out to get some. He's done that before. Which means he'll stop somewhere to eat on the way to getting us something, then stop again on his way to bring us our food. He eats. A lot. Like he really really eats a lot." Billy paused to look discerningly at Teddy, as he continued "I mean yeah, you eat a lot, but compared to Tommy, your appetite is quite peckish." Billy smiled glibbly for a moment, then turned to head over to one of the floor lamps, as he approached, he clapped causing them all to turn on.

Billy had purchased some 'clappers' at the dollar store. No Magic.

With his back still to Teddy, Billy rolled his eyes. He could imagine Teddy not in pajamma's - he'd seen him at some wrestling matches so he had an idea of how the blonde might look; he smiled at that thought. "No, I wouldn't think you were the pajamma type - probly more the shirtless sweat pant sort of thing... We've been here a few days now. Tommy did the wiring and stuff like that. He's very handy. He taught himself to do it as he went... he's sort of a master carpenter now." Billy stated obvious pride of his foster brother's skill.

Chimaera » Teddy nodded shyly. "Guilty. Though it's actually gym short. And I wear a t-shirt most nights during the winter." At Billy's look he shrugged. "What? Just 'cuz I can turn into stuff doesn't mean I can't get cold. Got the bed all to myself. Mom wouldn't even let me get a dog to snuggle with. She says they shed everywhere."

He walked over to the couch and sat down. "So while we wait for Tommy, should we talk about the two problems we've got?"

Another look at Billy had him grinning this time. He really shouldn't enjoy teasing the guy this much. But he figured he had to take his pleasures where he could now that he was pretty sure that other pleasures were off the table for now considering how he'd effected Calvin.

"First, what do we do about Nate and his warning? And second...how do we do anything about it when you clearly hate me? Not that I guess I haven't given you any reason not to..." he trailed off.

Wiccan » i'm trying to figure out exactly how billy can say to teddy 'huh so you and calvin... i mean i thought that was what was going on, but huh. it was... I'm more right then I like to think sometimes...

Teddy nodded shyly, Billys eyebrows momentarily tensed with a confused response. Why would a guy with Teddys assets be embarrassed? And if he were honestly embarrassed by such actions why would he do them? Billy shrugged slightly to himself as he thought Jocks. Gym shorts huh? I think youd look better in sweats personally, less formal, less binding. But hey, to each their own right? And then Teddy added a little more, and Billys face became an expression of curious momentary horror; Was Teddy actually naked right now? Like head to toe, naked? Did he have no decency?

Are you no.. never mind just nope, not going to ask that question, none of my business. Nope nope nope not asking it. Billy said in quiet mutter to himself; Billy was pretty sure Teddy was naked at this point - which meant if he had a pen in his pocket, he really was happy to see you; As for snuggling, didnt Teddy have Calvin now to warm his joy stick? Or was Teddy the joystick warmer? Billy wasnt exactly sure how it worked when it was two guys of relatively equal size.

Dont go there Billy, it will only steam you Billy told himself too late.

Billy tried to emotionally center himself as Teddy suggested a topic of conversation. On the positive side, it wasnt sports. On the negative side, it didnt sound like it had anything to do with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Cosplay, or anything else even vaguely interesting. He responded with a shrug as he said Sure.. Good to tackle things head on, right?

Of the two topics offered, one was life threatening on a global scale, the other was a complication that would derail any conversation they had. Billy pursed his lips together tightly and gritted his teeth as he shrugged once more. The pucker of his pursed lips pulled to one side of his face as he considered the options.

Well. I imagine we ought to discuss the second problem first. Then we can deal with the larger issue which we ought to wait on until Tommy arrives anyway. Hell probably already have some thoughts on the matter. Billy stated as he took a seat on the armrest of the old couch that he and Tommy had salvaged a two days prior; A lot of fabreeze and it didnt smell half-bad.

Taking a deep sigh, Billy slowly let out his breath as he formulated a response; Was Teddy actually naked now? Why did that thought and them in a dark warehouse by themselves sound creepy when coupled together? He started to scratch his head, his dark locks tussled as he did so, I dont really hate you not really. And I dont think you hate me either or you would of given me a swirly or something by now Id imagine. Billy looked at Teddy sharply as he said this. Youre an ok guy and we just got off on the wrong foot in the future watch were your going, their are people in the world smaller then you who will bounce of your brick shithouse of a body, kay? Billy made sure to make eye contact with Teddy as he said that. I get bullied a lot, or well, I use to A few months back, life changed and I went from being the nerdy kid to the strange kid long story, youve probably already heard some of the rumors - their kind of true I reacted poorly when we met. I just saw jock from where I laid on the floor. It was kind of humiliating. He looked away as he spoke, he wasnt proud of his actions, he understood them though, which didnt excuse them, and Billy knew that. Hed used the moment to act out on some very unresolved issues which were still festering deep within him.

.. And maybe I thought I had a chance with Calvin, or I did for like five seconds until you walked up and everyone sort of forgot I existed; That happens a lot, so yeah ive got some issues with you, but their my issues, youre just sort of the proxy and I am genuinely sorry for that.. But hey, on the bright side, youre in Brooklyn for like what, a day and youve already got a hot boyfriend with a killer smile and I bet some nice body parts so score one for the blond side right? Billy turned to Teddy with a cheesey facial expression and two thumbs up.

Chimaera » The more Billy spoke, the worse Teddy felt. Sure, the comments about him in sweatpants and how he was built were nice to hear, but the rest of it? Definitely not.

"Billy...I...I'm sorry." Teddy placed his hand on Billy's forearm. He figured that apologizing was the best place to start. "God, I'm SO sorry if I ever made you feel threatened or bullied. I guess I can see why you might, though. You don't really know me, so all you've got is assholes from your past to judge me from. But I would never do that. Ever. I've..." he hadn't really shared this with anyone, and hadn't ever really planned on sharing it, but he knew he needed to. "I've been bullied before, too. I know, poor little jock, right? But muscles can't stop some bullying."

He took a deep breath, knowing that just saying it was so wouldn't be enough. "I was with someone at my old school. Well, I thought I was with him. Apparently Greg figured that leading me around like a puppy was just something fun to do while he used me. He...knows, about me being a mutant. He also knew I liked him. He saw an opportunity."

Teddy shifted. Suddenly Tony Stark, complete with tuxedo and trendy glasses, was sitting there with one hand on Billy's arm. The billionaire's voice continued, "it's amazing how many places looking like this can get you into. Bars, restaurants, sporting events...all things that Greg liked." He shifted again. Now a redheaded girl with a ponytail wearing a cheerleader's outfit was with Billy. "And suddenly he could make out with the most popular girl in school," she giggled before becoming Teddy again.

"I can only think of once or twice he even touched me looking like this. And none of that was anything more than bumping fists or elbowing me to get my attention. I didn't really think about it at the time, though. I mean, I'm always me to me, no matter what I look like. Looking back I can see what he was doing. Should have seen it the whole time."

He was looking at Billy, but not really seeing him anymore. "When he wanted to start using my powers to shoplift stuff he wanted from stores, I finally stood up for myself. He...well, he made it pretty clear that I'd been an idiot the whole time. He didn't out me as a mutant, small favors, huh? But he did start a lot of rumors about me. Really vicious stuff, too."

Teddy blinked, back in the moment with Billy again. "So I know what it's like to get taken advantage of, treated like you mean nothing, get lied about. I haven't heard any stories about you yet, but even if I had, I wouldn't have believed them without hearing what you had to say about them first. So...now you know. You're safe with me, Billy."

He chuckled a bit, "And I'm sorry about Calvin, too. I didn't know you were interested. And honestly..." he began looking a little uncomfortable, "maybe I helped you dodge a bullet there, anyway." He sighed as he stretched back into the couch. "I mean, we've gone out a couple of times, um, hooked up once," he hurried through that part, "and you heard him earlier, right? Most special thing ever, magical, fireworks, explosions," he leaned his head back and draped an arm across his eyes. "Don't get me wrong, it's nice to hear, and it was good, but...that's a lot after a week, and it's a lot to live up to. I guess I'm just freaking out about it a little.

"So don't forget that sometimes having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true." Teddy lifted his arm and looked Billy squarely in the eyes, "And I never forgot you exist. Maybe some people do; those people are idiots. You're cute, funny, smart, and...apparently magical." He reached out to ruffle the soft brown curls Billy had just displaced himself. "You're a catch, Billy Kaplan. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise."
