Power Description:

FLIGHT: As Nova, Sam can fly at tremendous speeds that may reach beyond escape velocity and take him past lightspeed meaning he can circumnavigate the Earth almost eight times per second. Because of this, Sam is able to fly from galaxy to galaxy under his own power and incredibly quickly.

As a Nova, Sam can concentrate Nova Force into a beam or create a ball of energy and fire this energy from his hands. His primary use the power he generates is to create reflective, defensive force fields that allow him live up to his name as a defender of men. The Nova Force he channels can also power star-ships and be focused into an energy-based razor-sharp beam capable of decimating ships. He can combine these effects to amplify his own striking power by enhancing ordinary blows in nova force energy to achieve superhuman results. Sam can even do this by covering his whole body with said energy to strike or steamroll through objects like a fired off cannonball. The Nova force energy is capable of detecting and removing toxins and other foreign elements from within living beings, Like other novas, including his father, Sam has the ability to create portals into hyperspace that will then shorten the distance between different points in the universe.

MOLECULAR ACCELERATION: Sam can use nova force energy to hyper-charge objects turning them into energy based weapons like guillotines and razor sharp constructs. This hyper charging can also affect an object's kinetic qualities sometimes leading them to explode or combust unintentionally.

SOLID ENERGY CONSTRUCTS: As with Sam's use of force fields, this ability can resemble telekinesis. Though he has had some initial training and can move small objects with his mind ranging from hand held objects to small vehicles, his ability to handle larger objects is still dependent on his ability to believe he can. This ability hasn't been apparent in other novas and seems to be unique to Sam, perhaps a manifestion of a dormant mutation of his genetic code. He's better able to generate force/push effects using this ability than use it in finely-tuned ways. He's impulsive and this reflects that aspect of his personality.

ENHANCED STRENGTH: As a Nova Corps member with the rank of Centaurian, Sam has access to strength giving him potential reach limits of 75-100 tons. However, current development has his peak ability limited to the 20 ton range. as that of a centurion from the Nova Corps.

ENHANCED SPEED:Sam can reach incredible speeds while running, though he prefers to concentrate his energies on flight. He hasn't yet reached a point of fatigue, but it should be noted that he's not yet ventured out of Earth's atmosphere. He needs time to explore and develop his understanding of the nova force to get to the point where he both feels comfortable and able to move beyond or galaxy.

ENHANCED DURABILITY: He gains considerable resistance to abrasion and concussive force because of the nova force's inherent force fields. This energy is what allows him to survive in deep space and under conditions that would normally kill a human being. Without the helmet, Sam is just an ordinary teenage boy and privy to injury and death.

XANDARIAN WORLD-MIND: The Nova helmet carries within it the remnants of what's left of the Nova Corps' Xandarian Worldmind. Through this device, Sam is can access a great number of unique data relating back to previous wearers and the universe as a whole. The dangers of accessing this worldmind are troublesome,
and could potentially lead to brain damage, memory loss, and confusion about his identity.

UNIVERSAL TRANSLATION: The helmet can make any alien species' language appear to him as English. Too bad it doesn't help as much with his weekly Spanish tests.

COSMIC AWARENESS: Sam's Nova helmet offers him a sort of sixth sense and will flash warnings to him using different colors to depict different scenarios of varying danger and severity. The helmet also offers him basic knowledge of any dangerous situations going on near him.

ASSISTED INTELLECT: Through the helmet's Worldmind Sam gains a vast increase in cognitive capacity, filling his mind with knowledge and understanding about the universe as a whole and the scores of countless alien societies and cultures living within it. Rather than increasing his IQ directly, it allows him to process information and seek answers quickly.

HARDLIGHT HOLOGRAPHIC PROJECTION: Sam can combine the Nova Force and the Xandarian Worldmind to create incredibly convincing visual displays and representations.

COSMIC ATLAS: The helmet acts as a universal positioning system that enables Samuel to find his way around the galaxy and discover the location of just about anything the helmet picks up on. Examples of this are fallen Nova sightings, distress signals, and foreign elements in a living body.

AFFILIATE RECOGNITION : Sam may one day be able to guess an individual's affiliation by accessing the helmet's stored knowledge of outerspace and other galaxies. For instance, he may be able to recognize that a strange new visitor to Earth is Kree.

Character History:

Until recently, Sam Alexander was still just an average, ordinary 15-year-old living in Carefree, Arizona with his parents and younger sister. Growing up, his father told him tall tales, stories of adventures in space and something called the Nova Corps. Sam never truly believed his father, instead, he relied on the comments he heard from his friends and people in the community. To Sam, Jesse Alexander was just a drunk who told really fun stories.

One day, Sam returned home after school to discover his father missing. He has an accident while looking for him after finding his dad's old Nova helmet. He awakes in the hospital and is greeted by old friends of his father from outer space who tell him that his father's legacy as a member of the Nova Corps is real. Giving Sam his dad's helmet, they tell him they are there to train him. Upset and confused, Sam dismisses the strangers.

After putting on the helmet, Sam discovers the truth. He sees and hears a holographic recording left from his father. As a result, and determined to find his father, Sam begins to train and test out his new found abilities. He flies to the moon and meets the Watcher. The Watcher warns Sam of a coming alien invasion Sam returns home. Sam's father's friends start to train him to use his abilities and he begins to make progress. However, news of the Kree Invasion in New York reaches him and he decides to go East to stop the alien warriors.
